Circuits at Moorabbin Airport – Cessna C172S – Garmin G1000 – Part II of II
This flight was conducted at Moorabbin Airport, YMMB, on Sunday the 29th of November, 2009. Moorabbin Airport is located in Melbourne, Australia. It is one of the busiest airports in the country – based on the sheer volume of flights that arrive and depart there, which is mostly made up of training flights. Link to the Airport: www.moorabbinairport.com.au The plane a Cessna 172S (NAV III), registered in Australia as VH-EOU. Engine: Lycoming IO360 180BHP (2700RPM) Avionics: Garmin G1000 Cruise: 120 Kts (216kph) MTOW: 2550lbs (1159kg) Fuel: 201 Lt Usable (53 US. Therefore – Any criticism really isn’t that necesarry. Full flap (30 degrees) was used during the landing. After touchdown during a touch and go, the flap is put up because full flap can inhibit the climb out to some degree. Flap is only used on takeoff in a Cessna for a Short-Field Takeoff, and in that case only 10 degrees is used – and at 200′, after a positive rate of climb is established the flap is then taken up.
Sorry for the novice question….
on the touch and go…were the flaps UP..
before rotate-take off ???
Why.? Flaps…ALWAYS???during takeoff/landing??
I was surprised. Thanks
