Best unit u have ever owned
How did you get the Honda “H” emblem and vehicle description on your navi startup screen? Sorry, made this comment on the wrong vid. earlier.
@VBLUE42
Thanks VBLUE42. That’s great to hear. I should have my DNX9960 (and amps/speakers) purchased and installed within a month. I can’t wait! (stock 05 Camry audio doesn’t sound that bad, but it can’t even play MP3s!)
@playloud90278 I have noticed no difference.
Do you notice any sound quality difference between bluetooth and wired? I have the paid Pandora account, and stream at the higher bit rate (192kbps), and I am wondering if the bluetooth connection would keep up with that without recompressing or something.
@realestatetop1 Not true.
I have just purchased the kenwoog9960 and I was also told by 6th ave electronics that kenwood gives you free updates on software as well as garmin map updates all free.
I cant wait to get this unit!!!! I get it next month
@CastellanoRodery
Yes.
this unit have the option to change the color of his keys(bottons)? i mean i have a 370z and his interior lights are orange.. so i wanna match him with the unit to get all orange.. sorry for my bad english. Thank you
@VBLUE42 Ok, at least the updates aren’t $300 plus such as the Eclipse. I have joined the forum under the name Black Lion. I want to know as much about this Headunit as possible before I buy it. This will be my last upgrade. I have it norrowed between Eclipse 726E and the 9960. Leaning towards the latter of the two.
@lendogz22 Maintenance updates to correct software issues are free but yearly map upgrades are 100 bucks. At least that is what the upgrades for the 9140 cost. The first upgrades for the 9960 have not been released yet.
The shuffling feature works on these units in the same manner as what you describe on the Eclipse.
Street names are display but only about every other street. This is mainly in 3D mode but names are displayed more in 2D mode. The Pioneer units also work this way.
@VBLUE42 Hmm strange, I had a retailer tell me the map updates are free. Any idea how much the new map updates go for?
When you say the same, your saying it doesn’t shuffle songs randomly from your ipod?
Someone mentioned the dislike for the 9960 Navi not displaying street names, which the Eclipse does and its something I like. Have you owned a navigation that displayed every street names previously? Just curious if its something that would be missed or not. To bad 9960 leaves the names out.
@djdinkyd3 Jailbreaking the iphone is fine. I’m having no issues with it. In fact I’m enjoying improved control over my hardware as well as the alternative software choices.
@lendogz22 1. They are not free and they are release once a year.
2. This unit works the same way.
VBlue, I have the Eclipse AVN6620 and Im looking on upgrading to the 9960. I have a few questions about this headunit.
1. Are the map updates free for this headunit? and how is easy it to update them? Eclipse want over $300 for a mapdate. what a rip off!
2. Using the Ipod, does the 9960 shuffle songs randomly from your entire play list? This is something I hate about the Eclipse 6620. It will play the same songs in the same order. So Im hearing the same songs over and over in the same order.
Thanks
@tjernagel I used the Kenwood iPod cable.
What cable did you use? USB? or iPod cable? Or did you only use BlueTooth?
@VBLUE42 I thank you for the quick response, but however… I heard that it’s not safe to Jailbreak the iPhone for some reason. I’ve read up about the topic on the apple forum and it clearly says do not jailbreak your iPhone device, even though it is now legal to do so. But I really would like to watch Netflix movies, or use my other apps thru my iPhone 4. So tell me, what’s the best solution? Because I don’t want to risk harming my iPhone 4 by downloading that software.
@djdinkyd3 The unit does not decide this but the phone does. Netflix now supports video out on the iPhone so you will be able to do what you want with Netflix but other third party video apps as of now do not. If you have a jailbroken iPhone however you can achieve video out with any third party video app. You will need to install an app from Cydia called TVOUT2 in order to make it work. I use this for all of my video apps and it works flawlessly.
I have a question about this Kenwood DNX9960 product: I saw the demo and what it can do when it’s hooked up to the iPhone 4, but can this unit also display the apps on the iPhone 4 and use the functions? For example, I have a Netflix app on my phone, and I want to be able to watch my streaming movies from my iPhone 4, is that possible? Is there another seperate cable I would have to get that can dock on the back of the Kenwood DXN9960 unit?
@jazjon Actually the comment on Kenwood forums was about using the BTB200 with the 6960 so my mistake on that. Look for a suggestion to your problem on your Kenwood forums thread.
@jazjon I dont know. And you have already been answered on Kenwood forums about the 5160. It is best to contact Kenwood support for an answer to that question.
I want a Kenwood unit with A2DP that has a big physical volume knob since my smartcar has no steering wheel controls. If I bought the DNX5160 and Added the KCS-BT200, would I have ALL the same DNX6960 features? It seems like I’d have a fully loaded solution then. I don’t want A2DP always connecting when I boot up with out being able to disable it when head unit is rebooted. I want the a2dp feature only if it’s able to be turned off for good when not needed. (optional etc) Do you know?
