Garmin 1490 fails and reboots.AVI

Garmin 1490 always starts rebooting at the same spot. Garmin has replaced the unit 4 times but Garmin support has no idea how to fix the problem or what to do next.

Mine reboots coninually when the battery has been allowed to drain. It can take an hour or more to recoer normal operation. Keep it charged and it has no issues.
You can log in to Diagnostic page and go to shutdown causes, my shows “DATA ABORT” x3 times, and “RTL TRAP” 1 time on that day when the unit shuts off by it self. If you not sure how to get to diagnostic mode, do this. TURN ON garning, go to VIEW MAP and then click on the SPEED to get to speedometer, when you get there put you finger in the center of the digital speedometer which is 0mph and hold it for 10 seconds until diagnostic page appear.
I have 1690 and recently I was coming from San Diego to Los Angeles and the unit turn off same way and wont restart, it stay off even if I press power button, and after 2 or 3 minutes if restart and go off again, that happen 6 times on the way.
These are known issues with the 1490T. Garmin admits it. If it’s not too late, return it and stay away. It’s too bad, it’s such a nice device. Too bad they all fail. They say the 1690T doesn’t have this issue, but it’s $150 more, and only 4.3″ screen.
I have 1370T and freezing problems. Speaker make pop noise at reboots. i should have ordered vehicle navgation.
Try the same spot with Tomtom or Megellan
So can you fix it? I have had the reboot issue with 2 1390t units and now the 1490t. I am ready to try another Brand as this is a piece of junk!
I just got mine a few days ago. Hasn’t failed me yet lol we’ll see. This sucker looks promising.

It has to do with military RF in the area that affects many electronic devices. It affect police radar and other similar devices. The govt has crappy filtering system on the local broadcast and radar devices and it affects lots of things.

did u upload a new firmware?
