Will a GPS with real time traffic updates help me more that a standard GPS?
Am I O.K. with the hassle of taking the Garmin out of the car every time I get out of the car?
Do I get lost often?
What features do I really need? Ex. Turn-by-turn street names, Movie times, quickest route feature, POI( Points of Interest), gas prices.
A lot of times GPS system are given as gifts. So, I wanted to give you some questions to ask before making a gift purchase.
Gift Checklist:
Will the person use it or will it stay in the box and collect dust?
Is the gift for an older person? If so, would a larger screen be more useful?
Can the person return the item if they don’t like it?
Is the person tech savvy? If not will I be will to help them set it up?
Are they a long distance traveler that loves to see the country side?
Will they need all the advanced features or would a simpler unit work?
Whether the GPS is for you or someone you care about, doing your homework is always a good idea. With the above checklists I’m sure you will be able to make a decision your happy with.
One more little tip: If you do buy a Garmin GPS for your car and you use it daily, make sure you also purchase a sturdy case to keep it in. Don’t leave the unit in your car or opportunistic thieves will help themselves to your GPS. A sturdy case will keep your unit looking new and free from potentially damaging drops. Most GPS units are small enough to fit in your pocket but like a cell phone the finish to your GPS will dull with time so keep it in a case for a lifetime of enjoyment.
