The Garmin Nuvi 1200 is an incredibly light and super portable device. The Garmin Nuvi 1200 weights all of 4 ounces total. In addition to its light weight, the device has fairly nice dimensions too.

Housing Dimensions:

2.9 inches in height
3.7 inches wide
0.6 inches deep

Display Dimensions:

2.1 inches high
2.58 inches wide

What is Included?

The pixel resolution of the Garmin 1200 is equivalent to 320 pixels by 240 pixels respectively. While the device comes with a completely rechargeable, lithium-ion battery that is capable of lasting four hours without a need to recharge, the device is not waterproof and should be protected if used out in the rain or in inclement weather.

The Garmin 1200 is offered with maps conveniently preloaded onto the device so that the device can be used the minute it comes out of the box. Within the box the consumer will find the GPS system already set with necessary maps, a power cable, a mounting cup, a dashboard disc, and a user’s guide. Additional maps can be accessed via the Garmin website if the consumer desires. While the Nuvi 1200 is suitably compatible with a microSD(TM) card, such a device is not included with the purchase of the GPS system and will need to be purchased separately.

Capabilities

Via an integrated, embedded speaker, the consumer gets automated instructions and voice prompt guidance through this innovative GPS device: the Nuvi 1200 is capable of announcing upcoming names of streets and cross sections, and what directions the GPS user should take when heading to a specified location. The device does however, lack the voice command features found in other Garmin models; the device does not offer lane assistance guidance, and the user cannot use the device for three dimensional building views.

Despite the lack of voice command prompting and three dimensional viewing capabilities, the Nuvi 1200 does have plenty of attributes that the consumer can appreciate. The device possesses automatic rerouting capabilities, route avoidance, and highway obstacle notification; it is fully compatible with MSN Direct®, and the points of interest can be personalized by the user as well. In addition, the 1200 model is equipped with Garmin Garage(TM) features, and “Where Am I?”(TM) features too.

With the constant rise of fuel costs that a consumer faces, Garmin has incorporated a special feature to help the consumer save on fuel costs. One of the best features identified on the Nuvi 1200 is the ecoRoute(TM) locater feature. Thus, this device ensures that the user of the GPS system can find the routes that are most fuel efficient.

The 1200 GPS model manufactured by Garmin is fully equipped with an ultra convenient touch screen display, picture viewing features, a unit converter, a currency converter, and a world travel clock too. Garmin Nuvi has therefore unified practicality and convenience in the Nuvi 1200; the consumer gets all the features he or she requires in order to make traveling endeavors practical, affordable, sensible and super easy to plan.
