The Garmin Nuvi 1200 series debuts in June 2009. It is the latest of the long line of great automotive GPS units from Garmin.

The series consists of the Nuvi 1200, the Nuvi 1250, and the Nuvi 1260T.

All the GPS in this series are the same size (3.7″W x 2.9″H x .6″D) and the same weight (4.0 ounces). The screen size for each is 2.8″W x 2.1″H, 3.5″ diagonal.

These units are twenty-five percent thinner than the previous models (0.6 inches versus 0.8 inches). With this thin profile and lighter weight the Nuvi 1200 series GPS easily fits in your pocket for walking around the city.

All three of the units in this series speak street names. This is the most important feature in an automotive GPS.

There are a few minor differences between the units in this series.

As you would expect, the Nuvi 1200 is the entry unit in the series. It has:

· 3.5 inch display (diagonal)

· Speaks street names

· Preloaded street maps for lower 48 states, Hawaii and Puerto Rico

· Optional FM lifetime traffic information

· Where am I?

· Photo navigation

· ecoRoute(TM)

· Optional MSN® Direct

Step up to the Nuvi 1250 and you get all the features of the Nuvi 1200 with preloaded street maps for North America plus speed limit indicator.

The next step up to the Nuvi 1260T gives you the features of the Nuvi 1250 plus FM lifetime traffic and Bluetooth® wireless.

The Garmin list prices for these units are:

· Nuvi 1200 $199.99

· Nuvi 1250 $249.99

· Nuvi 1260T $299.99

These prices will more than likely drop as these units become more mature in the marketplace. This has been the trend of most of the Garmin GPS units.

Amazon is accepting pre-orders with a projected ship date of June 28, 2009. See the resource information below to learn how to find more information about these new Garmin GPS units.
