This video shows how I can repeatedly lock up my brand new Garmin nuvi 1690 GPS unit. I just purchased this GPS on 12/4/2009. I’m working with Garmin Support since 12/6/2009 on trying to resolve this. I’ll update you all with the outcome. — UPDATE 12/20 — I worked with Garmin Support for a few more days and they wanted me to send the unit to them at my cost to have it repaired. I then contacted the company I purchased it from, cartoys.com, and they said they would exchange the unit at no cost to me. Cartoys paid for the shipping back to them and a new unit is on its way back to me now. — I received the new unit, and it works like a charm with v3.00 of the GPS firmware.
