The designers of the Garmin nüvi 255W have clearly gone out of their way to make sure that the gadget is comprehensively powerful but yet, easy to use.

There are many likeable features in this nifty gadget. The first thing that strikes the eye is the wide screen that is 4.3 inches wide. It is big enough to provide visual clarity but yet small enough to be carried in the pocket or a small purse.

The user interface is smart and navigating through the menus is a child’s play. The destinations can be searched with visual clues and can be integrated with Google maps. This makes navigation easy and very intuitive.

All GPS systems use triangulation systems, where three satellites are used to find or fix a position. Usually locking or triangulation takes a while and during this period one cannot exactly find the position. This happens often when switching on the GPS. The Hot Fix solution provided by Garmin nüvi 255W makes the triangulation process faster and more accurate.

Another feature I found useful was the use of Garmin website that has thousands of geo location photographs. This can provide excellent visual clues while navigating or travelling in a vehicle.

It is very difficult to look at the GPS while driving and this can sometimes be dangerous. The text to speech tool in Garmin nüvi 255W obviates such a disaster. Not only the audio tell you the distance from the next turn but also spells out the landmark. The above features have made Garmin nüvi 255W a favorite of mine.
