Although Garmin has been making many of the best-selling GPS navigators in the market, many competing companies are beginning to roll out a slew of impressive devices. Some of them have even proved to be formidable competitors. The TomTom GO 720, for instance, is in my opinion much better than many Garmin GPS models in the market.

The TomTom GO 720 has a 4.3-inch LCD screen for displaying the maps. It is a touch-screen and displays images in a 480 x 272 resolution. This model uses a lithium polymer battery than can last up to 5 hours on a single charge. For connectivity, this device has a USB port, a SD memory card slot and has Bluetooth capabilities.

The TomTom GO 720 has a unique design that is a refreshing break from the already boring Garmin designs. From the front, it is mostly rectangular with a slight arch on the top. It measures just 4.6 x 0.9 x 3.3 inches in dimensions and weighs at 7.8 ounces. Most of the connectors are located below the device. The speaker is located behind the unit.

Some of the best features of this model can be found in its navigational applications. Many of the features that are found on the 720 can only be found in high-end Garmin models that are much more expensive than this one. There are also many features that are not found on Garmin GPS navigators.
