Part 2 of a 2-part tutorial on using the Garmin eTrex H together with a custom topographic map produced with the TOPO! mapping software from National Geographic. I show how to precisely pinpoint your location on the map and how to navigate to another location.

Just a thought. If you would set your GPS unit to UTM you could just use the grid lines already on the map and one set of coordinates to find your location. Not to under value a compass but if it’s dependant upon bearings derived from a GPS unit rather than visible land marks you are still very dependant on the GPS unit. The triangulation method in that case is the way to go.
Liked the your videos very much and now I have to buy the Topo software as well HA HA. Thank you
Just dusted off the old etrex, thanks for the pointers, keep them coming…
